How to Flush an XP600 Printhead

  1. Power printer off. Remove and plug each of the dampers with the small black plugs that can be found in the same bag as the syringes.

  2. Once the dampers are all unplugged from the printhead, remove the screws that connect the printhead to the carriage. Carefully pull each ribbon cable from its port in either side of the printhead. Set the printhead aside on a clean surface, with the print face up as to avoid any dust or debris getting into the nozzles.

  3. Mix together a 30/70 ratio of blue Cleaning Solution or green X-Treme Cleaning Solution and distilled water. Using the syringe with the tube tip, draw up some of the mixture.

  4. In this step, it is incredibly important to keep the printhead level and to not get any liquid in the ribbon cable ports. It is recommended to do this over a sink or garbage receptacle. Holding the printhead with the pegs facing upward, attach the syringe to each damper peg and gently push the cleaning solution through the printhead to clear out any solidified ink that could be in the nozzles. It is important to be gentle when pushing or damage could occur to the head due to extraneous pressure. This step may need to be repeated a couple of times for each damper peg to ensure all ink or build-up is removed.

  1. After each channel has been cleared out, ensure the printhead is dry, then reconnect both ribbon cables, screw the printhead into the carriage and reinsert all the dampers in their original order. For the CMYK dampers, the order from left to right is black, yellow, cyan, magenta, magenta, and cyan.
